Mayor Errick D. Simmons Announces Lifting of Greenville Emergency Measures as Crime Declines

Greenville Mayor Errick D. Simmons announced that the city council has lifted the local emergency declaration and curfew after continued decreases in crime rates, according to a statement from the mayor.

In a release, Simmons said the city can now return to normal operations, with businesses operating in accordance with applicable laws. The progress, he added, reflects investments in crime reduction efforts and the dedicated work of law enforcement officers, state and federal partners, city staff, community groups, businesses, and residents.

Simmons emphasized that Greenville will remain vigilant and continue investing in strategies to promote safety, accountability, and community trust. The city’s measures, initially enacted to address public safety concerns, are now being phased out as conditions improve.
