Law enforcement agencies in Jackson and Hinds County are celebrating International Women’s Day by recognizing the women who serve in various roles within their departments.
Women in the Jackson Police Department and Hinds County Sheriff’s Office work across patrol, investigations, detention, administration, and leadership positions. Officials say these women play a vital role in protecting and serving the community.
The celebration also highlights the upcoming leadership of Dr. RaShall M. Brackney, who will become the new chief of the Jackson Police Department. Her appointment underscores the increasing presence of women in law enforcement leadership and the importance of strong, capable leadership in the profession, according to department officials.
Jackson Police Chief Tyree D. Jones and Hinds County Sheriff Lee Vance acknowledged the contributions of women in law enforcement and their role in shaping the future of policing, officials said.
