Horn Lake officers celebrate graduation from Mississippi law enforcement academy

Two Horn Lake Police Department officers have graduated from the Mississippi Delta Law Enforcement Training Academy. Officers Hunter and Tyler completed the basic class B-82 and are now certified law enforcement officers, according to a department post.

Both officers graduated as expert marksmen and completed the six-plus-mile Road Warrior challenge. Officer Hunter was named a platoon leader for the basic class and finished fourth overall in the class. He also ranked third in total physical training scoring and was one of only two recruits to finish the 1.5-mile run in under nine minutes. His achievement will be added to the academy’s wall of honor, the department said.

The department congratulated the officers on their accomplishments. Officials noted that while training is complete, the officers’ work in the field is just beginning.
