Hinds County to Unveil Monument Honoring Fallen Deputies

The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office will hold a ceremony to unveil a Fallen Deputies and Jailers Monument on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 10 a.m. The event will take place at the sheriff’s office headquarters at 407 E. Pascagoula St. in Jackson.

The memorial honors deputies and jailers who lost their lives while serving Hinds County. The monument aims to serve as a lasting tribute to their bravery and dedication, according to the sheriff’s office.

The event is free and open to the public. Community members are encouraged to attend, along with families of the fallen and public safety partners, to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Traffic will be affected by the ceremony. Tombigbee Street will be temporarily closed from 7 a.m. until approximately 11 a.m. at the intersections with State Street, Congress Street, and President Street, the sheriff’s office said.
