Hinds County to Unveil Monument Honoring Fallen Deputies

The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office will hold a ceremony to unveil a Fallen Deputies and Jailers Monument on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 10 a.m. The event will take place at the sheriff’s office headquarters at 407 E. Pascagoula Street in Jackson.

The monument aims to honor the lives, service, and sacrifices of deputies and jailers who lost their lives while serving the community. It will serve as a lasting tribute to their courage, dedication, and commitment to public safety, according to the sheriff’s office.

The event is free and open to the public. Community members are encouraged to attend. The sheriff’s office will gather with families of the fallen and public safety partners to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Traffic on Tombigbee Street will be temporarily closed from 7 a.m. until approximately 11 a.m. due to the ceremony. Closures will affect intersections at State Street, Congress Street, and President Street, the sheriff’s office said.
