Hinds County dedicates Memorial Way in honor of Deputy Martin L. Shields Jr.
Hinds County officials, family members, colleagues, and friends gathered Wednesday to honor the life and service of Deputy Martin L. Shields Jr. on the anniversary of his death. The event included the unveiling of the honorary designation of Deputy Martin L. Shields Jr. Memorial Way, which marks Northview Drive from Hartfield Street to East Moyes Street.
County officials said the designation serves as a lasting tribute to a deputy who served Hinds County with courage and integrity. Shields’ family and colleagues expressed gratitude and shared memories of his dedication to the community.
