Greenville to Host Theater Performance on Women’s Suffrage History
Mayor Errick D. Simmons and the Greenville Mayor’s Youth Council are inviting residents to attend a theatrical performance titled “Sojourner & Susan & Ida & Alice: A History of Women’s Suffrage,” also known as “Lawbreakers!” The event is presented by New Stage Theatre.
The production aims to dramatize the courage and sacrifices of women who challenged injustice to secure voting rights. It highlights their leadership and determination, emphasizing the importance of civic engagement and organized action.
The event is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, at 10 a.m. at T.L. Weston Middle School, located at 901 Archer St. in Greenville. Organizers encourage students, families, educators, faith leaders, and community members to attend and learn from this live history lesson.
Simmons and the youth council hope the performance will inspire the next generation of leaders and deepen understanding of the struggles that expanded democracy. The event aims to foster community dialogue about progress and the ongoing fight for equality.
