Greenville to Host Colorectal Cancer Awareness Event on March 20

Greenville Mayor Errick D. Simmons has invited residents to attend a Colorectal Cancer Awareness Community Health Event on March 20 at City Hall. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will include a guest speaker, health screenings, and information on early detection and prevention.

City Hall, located at 340 Main St., will be lit blue at 8 p.m. in honor of National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, officials said. The event is free and open to the public.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, colorectal cancer is the fourth most common cancer and the fourth leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. Officials emphasized that it is one of the most preventable cancers, stressing the importance of screenings.

“Let’s come together to raise awareness, encourage prevention, and support community health,” Mayor Simmons said.
