Greenville officials hold emergency briefing on winter ice storm response
Greenville city officials held an emergency management briefing Wednesday to address the ongoing winter weather and ice storm conditions. Mayor Errick D. Simmons called the meeting to ensure coordinated preparedness and response efforts.
The briefing took place at 1:30 p.m. at City Hall in the council chambers and was livestreamed for public access. Attendees included city leadership, public safety officials, emergency management personnel, utility representatives, and community partners.
The groups reviewed current conditions and discussed strategies to protect residents, businesses, and critical infrastructure. Officials emphasized the importance of staying informed, limiting travel, and taking safety precautions during the storm.
“The safety of our residents is our top priority. We are taking proactive, coordinated steps to protect lives, property, and essential services. I strongly encourage everyone to remain vigilant and prepared,” Mayor Simmons said.
Residents are advised to monitor official updates and prepare for potentially hazardous winter weather in the coming days.
