Greenville officials attend Mississippi Municipal League Mid-Winter Conference in Jackson

Greenville Mayor Errick D. Simmons and several city council members joined other Mississippi municipal leaders at the Mississippi Municipal League Mid-Winter Legislative Conference in Jackson this week. The event provided an opportunity for local officials to meet with legislators and discuss issues affecting their communities, according to a news release from the city.

During MML Day at the Capitol, Greenville officials met with Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann to discuss shared priorities and community needs across the Mississippi Delta. The delegation also held discussions with State Senator and Senate Minority Leader Derrick T. Simmons, as well as State Representatives Willie Bailey and John Hines Sr., the city said.

In attendance were leaders from the Mississippi Department of Transportation and the Public Service Commission, who provided advice and support to Greenville and other local officials. The conference’s closing session featured updates from key state agency leaders, including Lt. Gov. Hosemann, Attorney General Lynn Fitch, Agriculture Commissioner Andy Gipson, and Insurance Commissioner Mike Chaney.

The event included presentations on topics such as tax-forfeited properties, economic development, legislative priorities, youth leadership, and community health. Jackson Mayor John Horhn welcomed attendees, and MML leadership outlined the future direction for Mississippi cities, the city of Greenville said.

Mayor Simmons emphasized the importance of collaboration between city and state governments. “Cities are on the front lines every day, and meaningful dialogue with legislators helps us meet community needs,” he said. “Greenville is proud to have a strong voice at the Capitol.”
