Greenville, Miss., joins effort to boost local economic growth with national funding
Mayor Errick D. Simmons of Greenville, Mississippi, expressed gratitude to the National League of Cities and national funders for their support. He said the funding will help create long-term, sustainable impacts to strengthen local businesses.
The National League of Cities has advanced 14 southern cities to the second phase of its Southern Cities Economic Initiative (SCEI). This phase focuses on implementing locally driven strategies to improve economic opportunity and resilience.
As part of the implementation phase, NLC is awarding more than $700,000 in grants to participating cities. The funding aims to support on-the-ground efforts and programs designed to boost economic mobility.
Other cities in this phase include Atlanta, Center Point, Alabama, Charlottesville, Virginia, Fayetteville, Arkansas, Harrisonburg, Virginia, Jackson, Mississippi, Jonesboro, Georgia, Lauderhill, Florida, Little Rock, Arkansas, Monroe, Louisiana, Natchitoches, Louisiana, New Orleans, and Thomasville, North Carolina, according to NLC.
