Greenville Mayor Honors Elementary Recycling Champions
Mayor Errick D. Simmons of Greenville congratulated Mrs. Vestal Lyons’ second-grade class at O’Bannon Elementary School for winning the city’s recycling competition. The students collected the most cans and were rewarded with an ice cream party, according to a city news release.
The mayor credited the students’ teamwork and commitment to environmental responsibility. The event was organized to teach young people the importance of sustainability and community pride.
Remelda Lewis, Greenville’s recycling coordinator, was acknowledged for her leadership in supporting the program. Simmons praised the students for demonstrating that small actions can lead to meaningful change.
