Greenville Mayor Errick D. Simmons Joins National Black Mayors Conference in Washington
Washington, D.C. — Greenville Mayor Errick D. Simmons joined fellow Black mayors from across the nation at the African American Mayors Association Conference in Washington. The event focused on leadership, policy, and real-time problem solving for America’s cities, according to a news release.
Mayor Simmons showcased Greenville’s Pathways to Financial Stability and Economic Mobility Program, a project aimed at expanding financial education, supporting small businesses, and creating pathways to generational wealth. He was also sworn in as the second vice president of AAMA, continuing to elevate Greenville’s profile nationally.
The conference included meetings with Fortune 500 companies and discussions with leaders such as Stacey Abrams and Colin Kaepernick. Abrams emphasized turning crises into opportunities to build better systems, while Kaepernick stressed that “history doesn’t move without pressure,” the release said.
According to the news release, the event reinforced the importance of bold leadership and purpose-driven dialogue. Greenville is actively participating and leading in efforts to improve economic mobility and city development, the city stated.
