Greenville man in custody after nearly nine months on felony domestic assault charge

Greenville police arrested Deontre Jones, 24, after nearly nine months on the run, on charges of aggravated domestic assault. Jones is accused of shooting at his girlfriend during an incident in the 1300 block of Roosevelt Street on June 25, 2025.

According to police, officers responded to a domestic dispute at the scene and spoke with the victim, who reported that Jones fired a gun at her and then fled. Authorities located and apprehended Jones around 5:58 p.m. Tuesday near Northview Drive.

Jones is currently being held at the Washington County Regional Correctional Facility pending his initial court appearance. Authorities emphasized that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
