Greenville man charged with murder after fatal gas station shooting
Greenville police have charged a 23-year-old man with murder and aggravated assault following a shooting at a local gas station that left one man dead.
The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on March 27 at the Exxon filling station on Highway 82 East. Officers responded after receiving a FLOCK alert about gunfire in the area and found shell casings in the parking lot, according to police.
The victim, identified as 31-year-old Timothy Blair of Greenville, was transported to Delta Health, where he later died from his injuries. Hospital staff confirmed Blair arrived at the trauma center with gunshot wounds.
Following an investigation, detectives arrested Roderick Jenkins Jr., of Greenville. He is being held at the Washington Regional Correctional Facility pending his initial court appearance. Authorities have not released additional details about a possible motive or the circumstances leading to the shooting.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty, authorities said.
