Greenville leaders attend Safer Cities Summit in Arizona

Greenville Mayor Errick D. Simmons and Police Chief Marcus Turner attended the Safer Cities Summit in Scottsdale, Arizona, from Feb. 18 to 20, according to a government release. The event was hosted by Axon in partnership with the African American Mayors Association.

Simmons, who is also the treasurer of the AAMA, joined mayors from across the country to discuss public safety innovations, officer wellness, community trust, and the use of technology to protect residents. The summit emphasized data-driven strategies, smart public safety technology, transparency, accountability, and collaboration between local leaders and industry partners.

Simmons highlighted Greenville’s commitment to leading with innovation while prioritizing community safety. Turner stated that public safety involves trust, technology, and teamwork, and that Greenville will continue to invest in strategies to protect families and foster community relationships.

The trip was fully funded, with air travel and hotel accommodations paid for by the organizers, at no cost to Greenville taxpayers.
