Greenville hosts legislative forum on key community issues

Mayor Errick D. Simmons welcomed attendees to a legislative forum focused on fostering informed dialogue and civic engagement in Greenville. The event was hosted in partnership with several local organizations, including The Tea Rose Foundation, the Eta Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., the Mississippi Delta Chapter of The Links Inc., and the Beta Rho Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.

The forum provided a platform for discussion on critical issues such as Medicaid expansion, judicial redistricting, and school choice. Mayor Simmons highlighted that these topics are ultimately about people—families, fairness, opportunity, and the future of Greenville.

Simmons expressed gratitude to Eta Theta Omega President Tamela Caver Gines, the panelists, state legislators, organizers, and community members who attended. He emphasized that democracy thrives when citizens are present, informed, and engaged, and praised the community’s efforts in fostering meaningful conversations about the city’s future.
