Greenville honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with community event

The city of Greenville, Mississippi, thanked the 100 Black Men of the Mississippi Delta for organizing its annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day program. The event has been held for 37 years to celebrate community service and leadership, according to a city statement.

Mayor Errick D. Simmons, a member of the organization, emphasized the importance of continuing Dr. King’s legacy through action. He praised Reverend Dr. Linda D. Lane, pastor of Greater St. Matthew AME Church, for delivering a message rooted in faith, service, and justice.

The city also thanked Greater St. Matthew AME Church for hosting the event, along with youth participants, faith leaders, elected officials, civic organizations, volunteers, and community stakeholders. The statement concluded with a call to keep working toward community uplift and justice, acknowledging that the work is ongoing.
