Greenville Holds Appreciation Luncheon for Delta Storm Responders
Greenville, Miss. — The city of Greenville hosted a Delta Ice Storm Appreciation Luncheon to honor first responders and community workers who supported residents during recent severe weather conditions.
Mayor Errick D. Simmons delivered a statement praising the efforts of emergency personnel, public works crews, law enforcement, fire personnel, utility teams, and volunteers. He specifically commended the Washington County Emergency Operations Center and Sara Hester for their role in organizing the event.
In his remarks, Simmons highlighted the long hours and challenging conditions faced by those who worked to restore power, clear roads, and deliver resources. He called the response a demonstration of courage and dedication that made the community stronger.
“This luncheon was a small token of appreciation for the tremendous sacrifice you made,” Simmons said. “Greenville, Washington County, the Mississippi Delta, and Mississippi are stronger because of your service.”
The event recognized the collective efforts of local and state agencies, volunteers, and community partners who answered the call during the storm recovery efforts, officials said.
