Greenville Fire Department volunteers serve meals in Hollandale amid community support

The city of Greenville expressed solidarity with Hollandale during a challenging time, according to a statement from Mayor Errick D. Simmons.

In the statement, Simmons commended Greenville’s community partners and first responders for their support. Members of the Greenville Fire Department, including Fire Chief Ruben Brown, along with firefighters Jeff Johnson and Lee Evans, prepared and served meals to more than 600 residents in Hollandale.

Simmons also thanked the Mississippi Workers Center for Human Rights, led by Executive Director Jaribu Hill, for providing dinner at a community gathering. Other partners included Carlos Brothers and Keeping My Brother Strong Inc., which served hot soup, and Walmart, which donated meats, pastries, water, and other food items.

Simmons emphasized the community’s spirit of service and unity. “We Are One,” he said, adding that Greenville will continue supporting Hollandale and other communities in need. The mayor praised the efforts as a reflection of the community’s compassion and willingness to help those in hardship.
