Greenville Celebrates MLK Parade with Community Unity and Service

Greenville hosted its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Parade on Monday, drawing a large crowd in downtown Greenville. The event was organized by the 100 Black Men of the Mississippi Delta, who received praise for their leadership in hosting the celebration.

Participants included local schools, bands, organizations, churches, civic groups, youth groups, and community stakeholders. Officials from Greenville Public School District and city and county governments also took part. The event aimed to honor Dr. King’s legacy and promote unity and service within the community, according to the city’s post.

Public safety and event logistics were managed by Greenville’s Public Works Department, Fire Department, Police Department, and the Washington County Sheriff’s Department. Mayor Errick D. Simmons emphasized the importance of service and community strength in his remarks, noting that the parade was a reminder that the Dream lives on through collective action.

Simmons added that Greenville continues to work toward living the principles of justice, love, and hope that Dr. King championed. The city expressed gratitude to all who participated and supported the event, reaffirming its commitment to community service and youth empowerment.
