Greenville Awards Funding to Community Partners to Support Local Initiatives

The city of Greenville announced it has approved funding for multiple community organizations to support services, cultural events, public safety, and economic development across the region.

City officials said the funding was allocated based on submitted requests and aims to improve quality of life for residents. Recipients include the American Red Cross, Greenville Fire Department, Greenville Reflection & Youth Development Museum, and other local groups focused on education, outreach, and revitalization.

Mayor Errick D. Simmons emphasized the importance of partnerships in building a strong city. “Our progress is not achieved in isolation, but through meaningful collaboration with community partners who share our vision for growth, equity, and opportunity,” he said. Although the total city appropriation to these partners amounts to only 1% of the upcoming budget, Simmons noted that such collaborations foster public trust and promote inclusive, sustainable development.

Simmons added that working together helps create pathways to long-term prosperity and resilience, moving beyond short-term programs to lasting change.
