Drought Conditions Worsen in Mississippi Region as Temperatures Rise
Most locations in the region are expected to remain dry over the next week, according to the National Weather Service in Jackson, Mississippi.
Due to below-normal rainfall over recent months, drought conditions are intensifying across the area. The agency warns that fire danger will increase on days with breezy conditions.
Temperatures are forecast to continue warming, with highs in the mid to upper 80s. Some areas could approach 90 degrees during the latter part of next week, the weather service said.
