Deputy Certifies in Crisis Intervention to Improve Community Response
Deputy Markevius Williams of the Palm Coast Sheriff’s Office graduated from Crisis Intervention Training on Friday, April 3, according to officials. The department currently has 17 deputies certified in crisis intervention.
The training focuses on equipping officers with skills in de-escalation, mental health awareness, and connecting individuals to appropriate care. It aims to improve safety outcomes during mental health crises and foster better community relations.
Through partnerships with mental healthcare professionals, deputies learn critical techniques to respond effectively to individuals experiencing mental health issues. Officials said this training helps ensure safer and more compassionate responses during emergencies.
