Delta Mayors Promote Unity and Food Security in Regional Initiative
Mayor Errick D. Simmons, president of the Delta Mayors Association, emphasized the importance of regional unity during the ‘March of the Mayors’ event. He said the initiative showcases what the Mississippi Delta can achieve when leaders and communities work together with purpose and compassion.
Simmons noted that mayors, city teams, community partners, and residents across the region are collaborating to ensure families have access to nutritious food during difficult times. He highlighted cities from Clarksdale to Greenville, Cleveland to Greenwood, Drew to Indianola, as examples of local leadership stepping up to meet community needs.
The mayor stressed that the effort extends beyond food donations. It represents solidarity, resilience, and a shared responsibility to care for one another. Recognizing recent storms’ impact on some communities, Simmons said plans are in place to support affected areas.
He concluded by affirming that the region will continue to lead with heart, serve intentionally, and demonstrate that the Delta is strongest when unified.
