Cold front brings significant freeze expected overnight into Tuesday

A cold front moving through the region will usher in much colder air, resulting in a significant freeze overnight into Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

A Freeze Warning is in effect from 10 p.m. tonight until 10 a.m. Tuesday. The warning covers areas vulnerable to freezing temperatures and potential crop damage.

The cold snap is expected to cause damage to unprotected vegetation, including early season fruit crops, forecasters said. Residents are advised to take precautions to protect sensitive plants from the freeze.

The cold air is forecast to linger through Tuesday, with temperatures remaining well below normal for this time of year.
