The National Weather Service in Jackson, Mississippi, says damaging wind gusts are the main threat Tuesday. A brief tornado is possible, and some storms could bring locally heavy rain late Tuesday night.

A Flash Flood Emergency is in effect in Pearl River County through 12:45 a.m. Several roads and structures have been reported flooded.

A line of storms is expected to move across the area late Tuesday into Wednesday morning, with isolated damaging winds and heavy rain that could cause localized flash flooding.

Overcast skies and isolated showers are forecast tonight in northwest Mississippi and southeast Arkansas. Monday will be mostly cloudy, with isolated showers possible in western and southern areas.

Former Fire Chief Ruben Brown Sr. will discuss home fire prevention, smoke alarms, escape planning and carbon monoxide safety at a Nov. 4 event in Greenville. Free smoke detectors will be available in limited quantities, and attendees can enter a drawing for a carbon monoxide detector.

The Horn Lake Police Department said officers took part in local Halloween events, including Trunk or Treat gatherings and pumpkin and poster judging.
